Angela Rypien Follows In Her Dad's Footsteps - But In Lingerie

The football has always been in the DNA of Angela Rypien, but he only began to really be part of his life recently. Daughter of former quarterback Mark Rypien, Super Bowl champion with the Washington Redskins (being MVP - Most Valuable Player - the end of the season 91/92), and the former cheerleader Annette Rypien, the designer was changing channels on television when "found" a new vocation: to play in the Lingerie Football League (LFL), the league football in lingerie.

Angela grew up playing ball with his father, who lost her only son when he was only three years (with a brain tumor). He trusted in the long period of "training" to play the new career. After contact with the Seattle Mist, joined the league this season, following his father's footsteps as a quarterback.

- At first I did not think would come in football simply because there was nothing available, but I wanted to keep involved, because it was a big part of my vida.Quando the LFL became available, it gave me the opportunity to do something with it . I was watching TV with my dad one day and passed by the channel. I always played ball with him when he was growing up, it's something I've always been passionate, and when I saw on TV, I thought "Okay, I think I want to do that." So I got in touch with the right people, I started training, and that's what led me to sign with the Seattle Mist for this season - Angela said by telephone.

Even the number 11 is the same as his father wore in the NFL.

- It was interesting when we had to choose the numbers, because the girls who played last year chose the first. But I think they knew the importance of the 11's in my life. So when I choose, I did not even think. It means a lot to me, shows respect for my father. It means a lot because my father also has a son, because my brother died 13 years ago. Keep the family in football and play with the numbers, I think it makes my father happy.

But if the number and name Rypien be represented in the football field leave the happy father, what about her daughter to appear in bra and panties on TV? It ensures that the former player of 1.93 m is not angry and gives up all the support and tips.

- He is not jealous. I think a little nervous about what others may think, but he supports. He was surprised when I wanted to get involved with it, but he likes the fact that I'm having fun and love what I do. He taught me my basic, when I started. The game is very different from what he played, but there are similarities in that it can help, as reading the defense, create options. He is not a very good teacher (laughs), but can it help me to reach another level - said the junior at LFL.

Besides the honor of the father with the number 11, Angela was also a tribute to his cousin Rick Rypien, former ice hockey player who died in August at age 27. In the helmet of his debut, she wrote the letters RR and the number 37 he wore the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL.

- It was something that happened so soon. I know he would be in my first game, in all my games. So it meant a lot to me to have him here with me. My family is still suffering, then it is a difficult subject to talk.

There were two games so far. At the premiere, Angela Rypien completed six passes of 16 attempts for 81 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Seattle Mist to a 42-8 victory over the Green Bay Chill. Last Friday, the quarterback had bad acting and went to the bench in the defeat of his team to the Las Vegas Sin for 28 to 24. But the young athlete provides a good future for her and for the league.

- I think she has a lot of growing, is still very new, only been there for three years. Now that more people are getting to know, more people are becoming interested, to the players. We have more athletes appearing to play. I'm anxious to see what will happen. They will expand into Canada, Australia and Europe. Will be scattered throughout the world and will be amazing to see how far can - Angela Rypien said.
